Swanson Sharks!

Info about swim team! BEFORE the first meet of the season! I’m EARLY! (I know … It’s been a weird year…)

Anyways, here is some of the “major” stuff; I will update once the dates for meets are confirmed; tentatively plan for Wednesday, June 13th as our first meet, and July 25th for our Conference Championship (possibly one week earlier).

Registration (Click on Link below!!):

Pool Members: $80 per swimmer, each swimmer after the third swims free! Includes team cap.

Non-Members: $125 per swimmer. Includes team cap.

More information regarding completing registration / team suit & sizing day / team t-shirts to follow. Aside from goggles, no other equipment is required, although swim fins are strongly recommended!

Requirements: Must be able to swim* one length of the pool. (*doggy paddle and its infinite variations are copacetic, but repeatedly touching the bottom/side/lane-lines is/are not) Please talk to me if you are unsure! This isn’t exactly a hard rule, but a safety precaution.

First Practice: Thursday, June 7th.

10 & Under: 9 – 9:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m.

11 & Over: 10 – 10:00 a.m. -11:00 a.m.

Coaches: Danny Lucero-Dixon  | Heather Dixon | Alexis Jozwiak  | Bruce Quick

Special Guest: Seamus Lucero-Dixon! (and Colin depending on his post-frosh semester in Ann Arbor…)

For any families who are interested in swimming in the spring: The primary purpose of the MAPSC league is to grow our sport. Heather & I own and coach for Michiana Stars, a developmental and competitive club swim program (ages 5 - college) that swims all year long, and I would be happy to provide more information to anyone interested!  I also have good relationships with coaches from all of our local swim teams, and we are lucky to have a good chunk of Swanson Sharks who represent those teams. I am happy to answer any questions I can, or to put you in contact with the right people!

This summer is a BIG one for Swanson. Despite the recent bumps in the road, I am more excited than ever to jump back in with the best summer league swim team around! We are coming off of one of the best seasons we’ve ever had – earning 2nd at conference by 25 points – and I know that it’s going to be a great summer. Spread the word, bring some friends out, and let’s get ready to race!

I truly believe that swimming is the best sport in the world, and an absolutely invaluable skill to have. I love coaching and am extraordinarily grateful to be part of such an amazing team. Thanks and see you soon.

Go Sharks!

As always, please feel free to contact me at any time.
